5th Workshop on FAIR Data in Plasma Science (FDPS-V)

The 5th Workshop on FAIR Data in Plasma Science (FDPSV) will take place on 11–12 May 2026 at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, with the possibility to participate online. Participation is free of charge.

The registration will be closed on 3rd May, 2026.

The workshop focuses on practical solutions for making research data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) within plasma science, with a strong emphasis on day‑to‑day research workflows, infrastructure tools and collaborations. It continues the annual series on research data management (RDM) workshops within the plasma community and is open to all interested researchers, data stewards and RDM professionals.

The preliminary programme is now published on the workshop website. It includes talks with discussions, a hands-on challenge on experiment documentation and a poster session. The topics range from building RDM communities and networks to the introduction of RDM tools, practical examples of benefitting from structured data and metadata and the introduction of new data and information services for (plasma) physics. Please visit the FDPS‑V website to view the programme and find information on registration and participation: https://www.plasma-mds.org/ws-fair-data-plasma-science-5.html

Call for poster contributions

Onsite participants are invited to contribute to the discussion with a poster on their solutions on research data management. Submissions that highlight real-world experiences, best practices, and insights related to the integration of FAIR principles into research workflows are encouraged. Poster contributions must be submitted during the registration process.

The workshop organization is part of the activities of the working group Experimental Plasma Physics at the Kiel University (CAU), the INF project of the CRC 1316 at the Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB) and of the Research Programme Smart Data Technologies at Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP). And supported by NFDI4BIOIMAGE.
