Bioimaging Community
Welcome to our Bioimaging Community
International bioimaging research is shaped by scientific excellence and technological complexity, and this is exactly where NFDI4BIOIMAGE comes in. Our goal is to actively integrate the German bioimaging community into global structures rather than creating parallel, isolated solutions. In doing so, we strengthen visibility, sustainability, and international collaboration alike.
International Leadership
Our community actively participates in key global initiatives, including
Open Microscopy Environment,
Euro-BioImaging, and
Global BioImaging.
This strategic involvement allows national developments to flow directly into international standards, platforms, and services — a critical factor for scientific competitiveness and global connectivity.
Infrastructure for Research and Innovation
The community actively contributes to the development and integration of major research infrastructures, such as:
EOSC – the European Open Science Cloud
ELIXIR – data infrastructure for the life sciences
OpenAIRE – the network for Open Science
Through this networking, interoperable research environments are created, linking imaging data with AI methods, multi-omics analyses, and interdisciplinary workflows.
Standards, Quality, and Sustainability
The community is actively engaged in international standardization and quality initiatives, including ISO and global microscopy quality networks. Open-source software, FAIR data principles, and long-term reusability are central to our approach.
Partnerships with funding organizations such as the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative further support innovation, technology transfer, and international scaling.
